Two days of fascinating and insightful presentations and discussions at PMO Symposium in Berlin have been a valuable investment of my time, and I am sure the many others who attended.
PMO leadership and development is a ‘hot’ topic and it was clear that there were many fundamental questions that still were being worked out – what exactly do we mean by ‘PMO’? What kind of ‘PMO’ should my business invest in? How big or how small does my ‘PMO’ need to be in order to be effective but not a burden to the business.
When I ran the PMO at Siemens PLM the best comment I received was that the PMO was ‘too valuable to lose but not too expensive to keep’ – I felt that this confirmed that we have met the right balance in the construction of our PMO.
There is much more to learn and talk about regarding the maturing of PMOs and I look forward to the 2013 PMO Symposium.
All the best
